Then there’s 8-year-old Yoyoka Soma from Japan. She has an adorable bob haircut, wears typical girly clothes, and she can melt your face off with her drum skills.
In this video, little Yoyoka rocks her way through Led Zeppelin’s “Good Times and Bad Times.” Even if you’ve never been a Zeppelin fan, you probably know they have a solid reputation in the music world and are now widely seen as true rock legends.
In fact, Led Zeppelin drummer John Bonham is often recognized as the drumming cream of the crop. Just Google “best drummer of all time,” and Bonham will be above the fold every time. (Rolling Stone lists him as No. 1, but fair warning, the article has vulgar language.)
From the same article, Jimmy Page (band founder) said this about Bonham’s skill in “Good Times and Bad Times”: “Everyone was laying bets that Bonzo (Bonham) was using two bass drums, but he only had one.”
So, yeah. Arguably the most complex drum arrangement played by arguably the best drummer ever, and this little girl covers it like it’s just another day of kiddy playtime.
Be sure to keep your eye on the picture-in-picture in the left hand corner. As the song comes to its fever pitch, you’ll see that Yoyoka is indeed the real thing … even though her foot barely reaches the pedal.
If all that weren’t enough, Yoyoka even has one thing that Bonham doesn’t — a sweet little giggle to finish off her face-melting performance.
