DALE HOGG 530News –
A group of eight bicyclists stopped by the Great Bend Tribune Tuesday afternoon, receiving a snack bar and bottle of water to fuel their trek. The riders were taking part in the Great Bend Recreation Commission’s Great Great Bend Summer Bike Caper. Running through Friday, the program encourages families and cyclists of all ages to get out and rediscover Great Bend and the surrounding areas. Those who register received a card with a list of local businesses and other destinations. When riders stop at a location their card will be marked with a special code. Local attractions are also listed and riders were encouraged to take photos and share them via the Great Bend Recreation Commission Facebook page – facebook.com/TheRecGB/. Look for the Bike Caper events page. All cards with stamps will be entered into a drawing, and many of the participating businesses, including the Tribune, were offering drawings of their own.
